Food and fear. Which foods make us more resistant to fears?

Being strong means saying: I can. Being strong and having fears means: I can, but I don't because I'm afraid. Did you know about this combination?

Everyone has fears and they are normal, sometimes even helpful. They are actually warning us of possible dangers in life. But if we have too many fears and above all if we have unjustified fears, then our own fears can become our downfall. We should theefore be more afraid of fear.

Our brains are leveraged by fears

Fears are dominant emotions. There are also less dominant emotions, but fears intervene immediately in the system. They immediately produce physical symptoms such as tachycardia, increased stress levels, arousal or shock rigidity. All things that are highly hindering in everyday life. But more importantly, fears are so dominant that they paralyse our brains and our brains only run in fear mode. And the only occupation of our brain then is to worry about fear. And what does the brain do with fear? It tries to develop different strategies to get rid of the fear. Because fear is not a pleasant feeling, the brain knows that, too. So the classical approaches to solutions are played through: attack, how do I defeat that which frightens me. Works reasonably well with spiders, less well with fear of the future, because how can you defeat the evil future. Not at all. No matter what we do, the future will always be there. Escape is also a possibility. In the case of acute anxiety, this often promises success, but even this is no means of success in the case of fear of the future. This means that our brain has no solution strategy for many of the fears we have today.

Rise in our conscious fears

Today we are faced with dozens or more different fears. This is because our conscious perception has expanded considerably over the last 200 years. In other words: in the past many fears were simply buried in the subconscious, consciously they had little effect on us. Today we can perceive these fears and we know how many things we are actually afraid of. And these are many. That is, of course, how we deal with these fears. We give energy to fears by dealing with them. We feed our fears.

How do we handle fears?

What are our fears today? Existential angst A lot of people have. But it is absurd. Nowhere else in the world is life better than here. The fear of existence is actually irrelevant in our latitudes with the highest social standards. And yet we have them and we cannot abolish them. Fear of loss It's more realistic, because we have a lot to lose: people close to us can suddenly die, we can lose our job, we can lose our house, our reputation. Our beautiful life, which we have built, could break up at any moment. That's the scary part. But if we let this fear become overpowering, one thing happens: we will not try to get the fear of loss under control, instead we will try desperately to keep the things that are important to us. We will try to avoid risks, we climb and chain ourselves with all our strength to the things we could lose and try to minimise the possibility of losing these things.

Fears stop us

Absurd, actually. Because, thereby, we will not succeed. Yet we do it. We're trying to go for safety and just not risk anything that could cause a loss. But what we don't see is that we are controlled by fear. It's long since gained power over us. Because the constant control and risk minimization no fun is in any case, of course, it does not make you happy either and above all it really costs a lot of energy. And what weighs the most, the fear of loss changes our orientation. It tries to maintain the status quo. But it does not try to achieve something new, to develop itself further. It's stopping us. This is the worst consequence of a fear that controls us. It's stopping us.

Fear weakens strength

And this is where strength and weakness come into play. Strength means: I can and I am doing this now. For example, I quit my job and will go into business for myself, because I can and I want to. I think I can achieve something as a self-employed person. Someone who's been in command of the fear of loss for a long time won't do that. They will say: I would like to change my boring job, go into business for myself, because I think that I can do that, I would probably be successful, BUT it could not work either, then I will no longer have a regular income, then maybe I will no longer get a permanent job, then I will lose my house and maybe even more. So what happened Fear of loss commands and turns strength into weakness.

The space free of fear

This pattern, as we have seen in the fear of loss, is also the pattern of other fears. They mean that we can no longer play to our strengths. We automatically become weak. When fears dominate us, we realize that we have a constant restlessness within us, that we always play for security, that we do not do what we can and that we cannot be relaxed and live in peace. Strength is also the basis for joy and a good mood. It can't be done with fear. Many fears lead us to limit our lives more and more and make life smaller and smaller until it is only a tiny point: the fear-free zone automatically becomes smaller and smaller. How can we overcome fears?

In psychology we like to talk about overcoming fears when confronted with them. And then, at best: Oops, I don't have to be afraid of that. Well, that might work for the spider. Fear is tied to a specific object. But does that work with the fear of loss. I can't bring about the loss, quit my job, give away my house just to face my fears. Impractical. In alternative medical theories, fear is seen a little differently. Fears cause great energy blockages and if we dissolve them, fear will be removed from power. We must become stronger than fear in the presence of fear. We can imagine that like a lightning rod. The fear hits us, right in our heads, and shuts off our brains. Now we have to be stronger than the fear of having a good grounding and to channel the fear of the blood that first infected them through the kidneys and bladder. Then we fended off the anxiety attack and can stay strong. In Chinese medicine, fear is associated with the kidneys. They can only be excreted through these. It is also said one has solid or strong kidneys. We need them if we want to remain strong and able to act despite fears.

That means we need food that helps us have strong kidneys and that gives us good grounding so that we stay strong when the lightning strikes.

Mandarins

Mandarins dissolve the blockages caused by the fears and lead fears out. They are perfect lightning conductors. Mandarins are strong and fast, but the effect is not long-lasting.
